Amir Khan’s family have revealed the real reason about his wife

Amir Khan’s family have revealed the real reason about his wife

American Faryal Makhdoom Khan has accused the star’s family of trying to destroy her marriage.

Amir’s mum and dad have rejected the claim and say they have treated her “like our own daughter.”

But they admitted to rowing over the catwalk model’s clothing.

Daily Mirrormir’s dad Shah, 54, said: “Faryal was adopting a dress code which in the Islamic faith was not acceptable.

“I am a father to two daughters whom I have treated exactly the same way as I have treated Farya.”

He added in an interview with Geo News: “All this started with the issue of dressing. We kept asking Amir to tell her not to adopt such a dress code.

“And even if she had to wear such dresses, please don’t post it on social media.”

Amir’s mother Falak said: “I asked her not to wear such dresses and to take the dupatta (scarf), but he never listened.

“After that, we asked Amir but he told us to convey this to Faryal’s mother because she does not listen to him either.”

RexMr Khan added: “Every family sees ups and downs. We always strived for reconciliation between Amir and Farya.”

The boxer and his wife had shared a house in Bolton, Greater Manchester, with his parents and brother Haroon, 25, and sister Mariyah, 19.

But the couple are now in New York, where last week they celebrated his 30th birthday.

Falak Khan said that Faryal did not mix with the Khan family.

But Amir has tried to play down the family row.

He said: “My wife said something, my sister said something else, these are routine matters.”

Faryal, 25, who has a two-year-old daughter, Lamaisah, with Khan, suggested the alleged abuse happened when she was heavily pregnant.

Revealing the family tensions in a Snapchat post, she said: “When you force your son to divorce his wife, when she’s nine months pregnant!!!

“And your son doesn’t … and he sticks besides his wife. He’s called a pussy? Then they think it’s OK to bully you in public…”

She followed it up on Facebook saying: “There are many women who suffer in silence due to ill treatment from the in laws. This dark side is usually kept hidden.

“We need woman at all levels, including the top, to change the dynamic, reshape the conversation, to make sure women’s voices are heard and heeded.”

Last week Amir’s dad told the Bolton News: “I don’t know why she has said it at all.

“Amir tweeted something before that about buying my mum and dad a house. Maybe that upset her. Then about an hour or two afterwards she tweeted all that.

“At the end of the day, Amir is my son. That will never change.

“Obviously she is his wife and our daughter-in-law and nobody can change that.”
