Workshops to help communities access funding

Workshops to help communities access funding

A workshop is being run by the Mayor of London’s office on 27 March to help community groups get funding from a new £400k initiative, ‘Crowdfund London.’

Crowdfund will give communities up to £50k for every project that makes neighbourhoods special, builds on local character and brings people together.

Residents can register online for a free place, where they will:

• find out what the Mayor of London is offering and what needs to be done to get involved

• learn from successful projects and access key advice / lessons to ensure ideas succeed

• get insight into what you can expect from running a crowdfunding campaign and delivering a local project

The funding can be used for large or small projects. Ideas to deliver new community gardens, elevate parks and re-establish historic markets have all been welcome.

John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets said:

“We have a thriving voluntary and community sector in Tower Hamlets, and I would urge them to find out more about this funding opportunity.

“There is an abundance of great community initiatives already taking place in the borough and this funding could further support that activity.”

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London added:

“Our crowdfunding initiative is a chance for all Londoners to take part in the regeneration of their neighbourhoods from the grassroots up.”

The workshop takes place on Thursday 27 April from 6pm – 8pm at the Osmani Centre, 58 Underwood Rd E1 5AW.
