Labour candidate forgets her party’s policies

A video has emerged of a Labour candidate suffering a terrifically awkward ‘brain fade’ and being apparently unable to name her party’s policies.

Ruth Cadbury, Labour parliamentary candidate for the winnable seat of Brentford and Isleworth, appeared to freeze up during an interview with local website The Chiswick Calendar.

Asked by the website’s interviewer what Labour’s “key policies are”, Ms Cadbury responds:

“Um… I can’t remember my key… I do need to check… I’m reading them every day… er… sorry… Labour’s key policies…”

“If you have to check them, that’s not great,” the interviewer says, as Ms Cabury puts her head in her hands.

“The absolutely core policy is to balance the books,” the candidate finally says, still apparently struggling.

Polling of the Brentford and Isleworth constituency, which is currently held by Tory MP Mary Macleod, shows Ms Cadbury ahead by a significant margin and set to win.

A survey conducted by Ashcroft in September 2014 showed Labour on 45% with the Tories on 32%. Ukip were on 7% and the Green Party on 4%.

The Chiswick Calendar, which recorded the interview, is a locally-focused website that lists local events and news in the west London community.
