Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami carried out politics of destruction in the country during their tenure.
“BNP means destruction, Jamaat means carrying out destruction,” she said at a rally in Chapainawabganj today and added that the BNP-Jamaat killed 18 people during Kansat movement in April 2006 when the people were demonstrating here for power.
On the other hand, Awami League-led government brought 70 percent people under electricity facilities across the courtry, the premiere said highlighting the development activities during the government tenure.
Earlier, Hasina inaugurated the second bridge over Mahananda river at Shahebbazar Ghat in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila.
Local Government and Engineering Department constructed the 546.60-metre bridge with 2,400 metres approach roads on both sides at the cost of Tk 49.79 crore.
The bridge will facilitate people of seven unions in Sadar upazila, reports our Chapainawabganj correspondent.
Earlier around 12:15pm, the prime minister reached the district by a helicopter.
Hasina will inaugurate several development projects in the district and also addresses a rally on the premises of Chainawabganj Government College.
The development projects to be inaugurated include a youth training centre; sub-station of Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture; an eye hospital of Jatiya Andho Kallayan Samity; a new building of Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir College; and a new building of Fire Service and Civil Defence Station.
She will inaugurate the construction works of upgrading the 100-bed Chapainawabganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital to a 250-bed hospital; repairing the Kansat-Rohonpur-Bholahat road; a project to protect Alatuli area from erosion by the Padma “Alatuli Area Rakkha Prokolpo”; and a 100MW power station project.
