Property tycoon used fake plates to dodge parking charges on his fleet of luxury cars A millionaire businessman used fiddled with number plates and tax discs on his fleet of luxury cars so he could escape parking charges.
Shameless property tycoon Julian King carried out the scam so he could park in residents bays and on double yellow lines without it being traced back to him.
The company director used the dodgy plates and discs on his Porsche, Ranger Rover, Mercedes, Audi and BMW cars.
But parking he was eventually traced to his address on Withdean Road, Brighton, Sussex and charged with three parking offences.
The 43-year-old was fined £8,000 for fraudulently using a vehicle registration mark and one of possessing an article in connection with fraud at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.
King is the director of property firm National Homebuyers and lives in a £2.5 million gated mansion.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “He was found guilty of defrauding Brighton and Hove City Council by parking numerous vehicles around the city in resident permit bays, loading bays and on double yellow lines dishonestly, knowing that the plates displayed on the vehicles could not be traced back to him through Brighton and Hove City Council’s parking enforcement inquiries.
“The court heard that he also evaded detection by concealing the tax disc in the vehicle on each occasion to prevent authorities establishing the correct owner’s details.
“The offences involved several high value vehicles, including a Porsche, Bentley, Range Rover, Mercedes, Audi and BMWs.
“A number of licence plates owned by King have been revoked by the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Agency.”
He was found guilty of defrauding Brighton and Hove City Council and fined £3870, ordered to pay costs of £2000 and dealt a further £2000 fine to Brighton City Council.
