Sri Lanka have won the toss and sent Bangladesh to field first in their Pool A match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday.
A win against the Islanders will take Bangladesh, who rank third with three points, close to a quarter-final berth. While another victory against New Zealand, England or Scotland will seal their spot in the last eight of the competition.
Bangladesh are playing with the same team fielded against Afghanistan. Sri Lanka have brought in Dinesh Chandimal for injured Jeevan Mendis.
