BNP leader Nasir Uddin Pintu, who was serving life term imprisonment in BDR carnage case, has died of cardiac arrest at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Sources said Pintu, who had earlier been sentenced to life term imprisonment was admitted to RMCH in the morning after he suddenly complained of chest pain.
A Dhaka court on 5 November 2013 awarded Pintu a life-term imprisonment for his involvement in the BDR carnage in 2009.
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal former president Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu submitted nomination form to contest in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayoral race which was held on 28 April.
The Election Commission (EC) also cancelled the nomination papers of Pintu.
