Seven Injured As Roof Ripped Off London Bus

Seven people have been injured after a London double-decker bus crashed into a bridge.

The roof was sliced off in the incident, which happened in Norwood, south London, at around 9.15pm on Saturday.

A hazardous response team, two ambulances, two medical response cars and a duty manager were called out.

The seven injured people are understood to have been sitting on the top deck of the 197 service heading to Peckham.

Four of them were taken to Croydon University Hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said one woman with neck pain was given a collar and put on a board as a precaution.

A black and yellow striped sign to the right of the bridge reads: “Warning low bridge. Not suitable for double deck vehicles.”

The A215 Portland Rd at Manor Road, near Norwood Junction, was blocked in both directions after the incident.

The London Overground service was also suspended between Sydenham and West Croydon.
