A tribunal on Thursday sentenced Oishee Rahman to death for killing her parents police officer Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman in 2013.
The tribunal also fined Oishee Tk20,000, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.
Besides, the tribunal sentenced Mizanur Rahman Rony to two years’ imprisonment and fined him Tk5,000, in default, to suffer one month more jail while acquitted Asaduzzaman Johny.
However, in the judgment, the tribunal observed that the girl (Oishee) was mature while committing the murder and deemed it fit to mete out the highest punishment to her accordingly.
Earlier on November 4, the tribunal fixed today (November 12) for delivering the judgment.
The trial in the case over the killing of the couple started on July 8, 2014, through recording depositions of the witnesses.
A total of 39 witnesses, out of 57, gave their depositions before the tribunal.
On August 16, 2013, police recovered the bodies of SB Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
Later, Oishee surrendered to the police confessing to her involvement in the killing.
Police also arrested her two friends Asaduzzaman and Mizanur and domestic help of their house Khadi-za Akhter Sumi in connection with the murder.
Mahfuzur’s brother Mohammad Mashiur Rahman Rubel filed a case with Paltan Police Station on Au-gust 17.
Abul Khayer, inspector of Detective Branch of Police, submitted two separate charge-sheets — one against Oishee and her two friends on March 9, 2014, and the other against Sumi as she was then a ju-venile.
