3 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi road crash

 

 

Nine people, including three Bangladeshi nationals, were killed and 17 others injured in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Thursday night, reports UNB.

The accident took place at Mazma (200 km away from Riyadh), said a source of Foreign Minis-try yesterday.

The deceased Bangladeshis were identified as Md Wahed Ali, of Jamalpur district, Md Masud Mia, hailed from Kishorgonj and and Alom Chad Mia, of Tangail district.

Six Indians were also killed and 35 injured in the accident. Sarowar Alam, labour counsellor of Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, said that the accident took place at Mazmah area around 11:30pm Thursday.

Three Bangladeshis were shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as their condition is critical. The bodies have been taken to the mortuary of the King Khaled Hospital in Riyadh. The in-jured are being treated at the same hospital, he added.

According to Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training, Saudi Arabia has so far recruit-ed over 26 lakh Bangladeshis since 1976. Of them, about 15 lakh workers are currently working in the Kingdom.
